US Mortar Pit pricePost Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Search for Posts by Robok Report Post to a Moderator        IP Address Go to the top of this page

Recent changes to defences prices and build times have proved to be effective in making the 'turtling' problem less bad, but I've noticed that mortar pits are still being abused due to the fact that they cost as much as an M2 emplacement, but do the job of both a TOW and an M2 emplacement for the price of an M2 emplacement (750).

I might add that unlike the M2 and TOW emplacements, a Mortar Pit is usually placed in the backline of a defence, making disabling it very hard, and I've personally seen games that it is spammed relentlessly due to its relatively low price at the frontlines to continuously destroy the enemy's base/defences/whatever.

Way I see it, the problem is not the defence itself, but rather its price, I think it should be between the TOW and AA site (1300 or even 1400) so that it may not be abused as much.

No way

Recent changes with defenses has shorten problem of turtling enough.

Each US emplacement is easy to disable, especially if standing alone. And if somebody let enemy to build concrete defenses in front of mortar pit now, it's his fail.

As well as mortar behind Mg / TOW line has limited use against enemy snipers etc. what make line prone to being disabled and overrun.

Mortar Pits are generally built behind a tough defence line, everyone uses them this way, if they are not useful in attacking they're highly useful in defending against any type of ground targets, they can take out tanks AND masses of infantry, so a price increase isn't really all that uncalled for.

But setting up a tough defense line is pretty impossible with equal players.
It's only one's fail now, that he let - somehow - to build tough defense.

US has own mortars to counter them so there is no problem, and USSR can use for example Mi8. Few moments and mortar + nearby stuff is gone. AA Sites are now meet a way more rarely due to high price, AA soldiers miss more frequently and has lower range.
Snipers work well too if coordinated.

And with so costly mortars, so prone to be blocked, all US defense is removed to... 'paper', or even less.

Stop this.
This is not even worth being discussed.
Mortar pit is FINE.
Why?
If you just get 1 sniper near it, its useless. Dot.
And, whats the problem in USA having early arty, that is stationary?
I dont get that. USSR gets more and more in favor, and this aint gonna stop.

Well yes mortars should be priced between Tow and MG. But Tow is already a bit too expensive.
